The term “growth hacker” was coined in 2010 by Sean Ellis, an entrepreneur who enabled many companies to achieve massive growth. Growth hacking refers to a series of processes wherein specially trained marketers, product managers, and even engineers conduct experiments to find the most effective methods of building their user base and engaging their customers.

“A growth hacker is a person whose true north is growth. Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth,” explained Ellis in a blog post.
